Kathy and the Kilowatts sign with Nola Blue Records;
New CD Released!
Nola Blue Records is pleased to announce the addition of Kathy & the Kilowatts to the label, with an April 13 release date scheduled for their new album, “Premonition of Love.” Led by singer/songwriter Kathy Murray, this album marks the band’s fourth release and builds upon the success of their 2017 album, “Let’s Do This Thing.”
Murray cut her teeth during the golden era of Austin’s blues and R&B scene in the 1980s and early 90s, sharing the stage with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and blues godfather W.C. Clark. Her longtime musical partner (and husband), William “Monster” Jones, contributes guitar, accordion and backing vocals both onstage and off.
“From the first time I met Kathy and Bill, I was captivated by their genuine warmth, kindness and undeniable synergy,” says Sallie Bengtson, label owner. “I’m impressed with Murray’s songwriting creativity, and especially look forward to sharing the messages delivered in the album’s songs including ‘First Do No Harm,’ ‘Grow Some,’ and ‘The Bigger Picture.’”
“There is something beautifully transformative about music, from the wondrous things it makes you feel, to the people and places it brings into our lives. Sallie Bengtson is a force of nature in this industry, with her strong dedication and support for blues music and artists. Becoming part of her Nola Blue Records label is tremendously exciting and a true honor,” says Murray. “’Premonition of Love’ has been a joy to create, and it is my hope that listeners will feel uplifted, empowered, and inspired as they relate to these songs. Heartfelt appreciation to all of the gifted musicians and engineers who contributed their special magic to this album!”
Engineered by Jeff Botta at Single Pitch Studios in Austin, label mate Benny Turner provides his signature bass grooves on four of the tracks.
The album was mixed and mastered by the multi-award-winning Jack Miele, at Music Shed Studios in New Orleans, LA. Publicity and promotion will be handled by Betsie Brown at Blind Raccoon.
